Jim Lehrer of The NewsHour to Speak at Wentworth by the Sea June 12

Respected Journalist to Appear at NHPTV 50th Anniversary Event

(DURHAM, June 1, 2009) — One of the most acclaimed journalists in America, Jim Lehrer, will appear at a New Hampshire Public Television 50th anniversary dinner event Friday, June 12th at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in New Castle, NH. Lehrer will speak about his journalism career, PBS’s The NewsHour and his new novel, “Oh, Johnny,” which tells the story of a World War II soldier who falls in love with a woman he meets at a train station in Kansas.Tickets to this event are $125 per person and are available by calling (603) 868-4467 or online at nhptv.org/events. Lehrer began his career in journalism at The Dallas Morning News and the Dallas Times-Herald, where he covered the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. Lehrer began working with PBS in 1973, and in 1975 developed and co-anchored The MacNeil/Lehrer Report with Robert MacNeil. Nicknamed the “Dean of Moderators” by CNN’s Bernard Shaw, Lehrer has moderated 11 presidential candidate debates.
